Scottish
shortbread:) You are looking at the end of my current affair with
naughty food. Now onto veggies and soup and fibre and protein:)
There's a show here in Canada called XWeighted. Sort of like Biggest Loser but not anywhere near the scale. (pun that I didn't get until rereading:) Actually it is not like Biggest Loser at all now that I think of it. It is a show about losing weight. In January they are starting six month "at home challenge" I think I will sign up on January 9th :) Sound like a plan?
Today is the Big Draw. I am headed to the QE11 Foundation office later to get the winning ticket drawn. Exciting! Thanks to all who donated and to everyone else, thanks for bearing with all my fund raising beseeching.
But first I have to get my hair cut:)
This recipe is simple enough even for me to handle.
1 pound lentils, cook & drain (1 lb = 2 1/3 cups dry)
1/4 cup parsley (dry)
3 cloves garlic
3/4 cup lemon juice
1 cup canola oil (or other oil)
1 tablespoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons salt
Cook and drain the lentils. Then mix all the other ingredients together with the lentils and refrigerate.

You
never know what you will find here:) From me begging you to donate to
worthy causes to what I'm reading. This afternoon, I finally have
settled in to read Tales from a Travelling Mum: Navigating Europe with a Babe-in-Arms by my pal, AliceGriffin.
I've been following Alice's adventures for a while now through her
blog. It is a delightful read written by a delightful person. Great for
armchair travelers, families with a dream and those actually starting
their planning:)
Also, remember that amaryllis I saved? Look how
it has grown and not only that, a twin shoot grew from the same bulb
alongside it and now is ready to burst into bloom also!
Monty approves....... I'm learning how to use my new lens:)
Because
I am team leader... I feel a bit of responsibility towards the rest of
my group and am posting this here because there are only two days left to participate in this opportunity to help purchase a new digital mammogram machine for our local hospital.

Civil penguins and elusive Nobbles
Boston Globe Book Reviews By Peter Neumeyer
Entire fictional universes, made to scale and complete in every detail, have been created by daring writers such as Jonathan Swift (“Gulliver’s Travels’’) and Jean de Brunhoff (“The Story of Babar’’). Daniel Schallau’s Icetown in “Come Back Soon’’ warrants inclusion in any listing of great literary landscapes.
Icetown, inhabited solely by penguins, is an architectural fantasy, splendid with a new ice hotel, designed by Elephant, who gets invited back to celebrate his creation.
Amid the festivities, the giant snowball Elephant is riding goes haywire and smashes into the hotel. With the help of all the penguins, matters are soon set aright. Readers will be left with a deep affection for the penguins, who treat each other with unfailing courtesy and rationality, offering us a model for behavior that encourages both civility and thriving commerce. The entire tale intriguingly takes place on two levels: the detailed primary illustrations, which then are platonically repeated in a shadow play against the icy landscape and the wintry sky.

December Views

Well,
here we are on the other side! Another Christmas dusted off and filed
on the memory shelves. One of my presents was an iPod nano!!! Yay! I'm
late coming into the mp3 business. This one is great because I can also
listen to my beloved CBC radio if I want, something I enjoy doing as I
walk. Walking is what I plan on doing more of as Jan 30th looms closer.
Cross training:) I have to take off all those extra chocolate, cheese,
wine, dip, crackers, trifle, gravy pounds I put on over the last week.
Yikes, really, I am not kidding, but they sure were tasty:)
